They say that on Día de los Muertos the dead come home along a trail of marigold petals. You have lost that trail.
When you look back, the wind has already scattered the petals, and all that is left around you are identical wooden walls. Have you been here before? Or not yet?
An ofrenda stands by the entrance. Among the candles and marigolds your firearm is lying there — as though you had been expected for a long time.
Lost souls hide behind the walls. Some stand in the open, others peer out from behind a corner or through a window. Every one of them must be found. But among them are those who have already found peace. Do not wake them.
In the darkness the iron bells of the dead are waiting. Hit them and they fall silent. Miss and they keep calling until someone comes to the sound.
When the last bell falls silent and the last soul finds peace, the petals appear under your feet again.
